Week 13 and 1 more week to go for my Web Creation class. This week was a great class on Web optimization. I particularly learned about the Woorank.com website and how it can help give suggestions on improving one’s website for achieving greater results.
I actually used the woorank.com to check the ranking of one of my business websites that was professionally prepared. It achieved a ranking of 41. I then proceeded to check my new website for my other business that I personally created, and it ranked at 66.
From this comparison, either I paid for a very poor website developer or I must have learned something of great value in my class this semester. I would like to believe the latter. I still have a lot of room for improvement thanks to woorank.com, google analytics and fellow classmates, I have many suggestions to try and implement to improve my wooranking score.
This week we learned the importance of Social Media and Social Networking and the influences it can have on our website’s performance. Fortunately, I had already started some forms of social media and social networking sites last year, that I have not quite finalized.
I have a company Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/Statewide-Process-Services-322099954826670/ that I am working on and have added an actual Facebook link to my website.
This is my LinkedIn account which I also added, https://www.linkedin.com/in/jim-smith-86310312a/
I am working on adding a Twitter account and my long-term plan is to try and incorporate a blog that pertains to some of my most interesting process service and private investigation cases and create a contest of a “Where’s Waldo” type scenario to build a brand awareness of my company and website. I think having some creative fun would be helpful in attracting traffic to my sites. Having the blog would require to me to keep it active and fresh which would in turn help improve the google metrics of keeping the regularly updated.
Before this class, I thought you build a website and it was good forever, now I am understanding the importance of frequent updates and improvements required to retain and capture new traffic.
Well, Here it is, the weekend after Thanksgiving and we have plenty to be blessed with. One of the many blessings that the Lord has provided to us in these Latter days, is technology. I never would have thought that I would be so involved with computers and the internet, let alone be running a business online via my very own website. I am so thankful for all the technology and software that gives us the ability to increase our traffic and optimization of our website to drive more business to and through it.
This gives us as individual an opportunity to be creative and self sustaining in running our own businesses and provide for our families. This beats the days when we had to toil in the fields and factories to provide for the needs of our families. We are truly blessed and we should be so ever thankful to a loving heavenly Father for all of our blessings that we enjoy.
I am typing this blog from the comfort of sitting on a fallen tree next to a campfire in East Texas. It is Friday night, Scout camp out and I love it. The scouts have turned in for the evening and I busily typing my blog for my weekly reflection of optimizing my Ad words campaign. I am learning quite a bit about the impact Google AdWords can have in maximizing opportunities.
I also can see how important it is to maximize the cost efficiency of the keywords and ads that my campaign is running. I like the material I have learned so far that I am actually implement an AdWord campaign on one of my existing business websites.
The best thing of all, I can monitor and make changes right from my cell phone, from anywhere my cell service can be found, just like I am doing in creating this weekly blog. How simple is that?
This week we are learning about Google Analytics and relevancy in our Google AdWords Campaign. Using Google analytics, I can track my visitor as he visits my site, determine how long he is there and what pages and keywords he is actually looking at. Having this data helps Google analyze what keywords and ads are most effective in attracting consumers to my website. Since the amount of data collected is so much, Google analytics helps to interpret the data and provide me with solutions and changes to help make my website a success while reducing my advertising expenses.
After much study and review of in depth articles written about the power of Google Analytics, I have found one article in particular that helps me identify 14 ways that Google Analytics helps improve my website. The article is a Forbes.com article dated January 2017, titled, “14 Ways You Can Use Google Analytics To Improve Your Website”. Three key take-aways from the article that I am implementing in my site are, Identifying the keywords that drive my visit, enable Google Search Console and leverage attention grabbing pages of my website. I believe focusing on these 3 items will help generate additional inquiry visits to my site.
Short, sweet and to the point to capture your potential consumer business! That is the key to a successful, succinct and effective website ad. This week we learned in class the fundamentals of how to make big impressions with little words and less of them. Eliminating everyday junk and passive words is the key! A short sentence grabs the audience’s attention with less effort. Ad extensions is a great way to add information at minimal to no cost in AdWords campaigns to bring in more customers to your site. I enjoy this week’s lesson and participating in the discussion group and learning more about each other’s project. We have quite the variety of web businesses in development. This variety goes to show the ingenuity and diversity that each of us has to offer. We are all unique individuals with individual talents and knowledge that we can utilized in our creativity of self-employment opportunities.
This week we are study the use of keywords in our Google AdWords Campaign. It is amazing how the power of those words, whether good or bad can have on the success or failure of our internet site. A keyword could be too broad, and it could take time for a consumer to drill down to my site to try to make a sale. A too specific keyword could cut potential loss sales.
Negative keywords could help eliminate unwanted traffic to my site. The power of keyword(s), phrases and their use on my internet site has made a significant difference in my internet traffic on my existing businesses.
From this lesson and many lesson from our Gospel teachings, the power of words and the power of The Word is unmistakable. “Confidence in the power of the word…. the scriptures contain “the words of life” (D&C 84:85) and that the word has a “more powerful effect” upon the mind “than the sword, or anything else” (Alma 31:5).” Preparing to Teach Gospel Teaching and Learning: A Handbook for Teachers and Leaders in Seminaries and Institutes of Religion, (2012), 47–57
If the power of words can make a difference in the lives of men, I know that the power of words can help make the difference between success and failure in my AdWords Campaign.
So, I chose to use GoDaddy.com to obtain my domain name, host site and create my website, https://txstatewideprocessservices.com/. I liked how GoDaddy was all inclusive and at a fair price. I struggled at first with my domain name, since the name I wanted was up for bid at $1000 a year. I choose not to go with my first choice and picked a domain name that was similar.
Creating the website was straight forward, GoDaddy had a fewer choice designs that I would had expected, but overall I was satisfied. GoDaddy offered me the flexibility to add my own designs, photos, and html. My site contains all the requirements of class at this point in time and looks pretty awesome as well.
I am looking forward to the next several weeks of marketing, which I believe to be the most beneficial of all the components that will make our site successful.
I now feel confident enough now that this class will give me enough information and skill to pursue more in-depth classes in web creation and design.
I loved listening to the short video that our instructor had us watch this past week, “Dieter F. Uchtdorf – Create Mormon Message” What an inspiring talk about God wanting us to use our individual creativity in all that we do.
The video was a great precursor to reading and taking part in our group discussion board about the variety of businesses that each of us have chosen for our web business creation project.
Who would of thought to sell socks, a political blog that accepts donations, DIY affiliate marketing, subscription service for radio sweeper ads, beanies, sewing blog, two photography websites, private investigations/processer and a woodworking site.
This week I have gained a greater confidence that anyone if given the tools and opportunity could become self-sufficient if they put forth the time and effort. We are very blessed in this time and age to have the power of the internet to promote our business to a wider audience than ever before in the history of mankind.
I am thankful for Heavenly Father’s divine plan that he has given us the ability to be creative and the desire to seek after knowledge to progress in this mortal life.
This past week has been very interesting in using our Quantify and Compare spreadsheets on three separate topics. Choosing a Product, Web Creator/Editor and an internet Host.
Before even starting this class, my hope was to be able to create a web site that would promote my current business interest and experience. Private investigations and Process Service. Working with the Google keyword Planning tools gave me several ideas as to how I could promote my business website.
Choosing a Web Creator and host was an eye opener to the variety of programs and options available. Ultimately based on my criteria of pricing, ease of use and upgradeability, I like Website Tonight as my website creator. 1and1 is my choice for host, I currently use them for my current websites, they have great pricing plans and a free domain name.
I am looking forward to next week’s class of creating the website. Wish me luck!
